Safety, Care, and Removal Information
Face paint Safety and Removal

So many people love face paint. It is one of the most popular attractions to have at any event with children. Many people just pick up any old set of paints and go. This is where the safety information is so critical though.
Many types of paint may cause adverse reactions on skin. They can cause rashes, hives, and more. There are many paints that are non-toxic, that doesn’t mean face paint though. A common mistake is to use acrylic paint on skin. Although it may not cause a reaction on everyone, it will cover and close pores and can cause a variety of reactions, especially on young skin.
We use a variety of clinically tested, high quality face paints, including Tag, Fusion, Global, and DFX face paints. All of these brands have antimicrobial properties which help keep our faces safe and healthy. Feel free to ask us any questions about our paints.
If proper face paints are used, they are very simple and safe to remove. Professional face paint will also rarely cause people to have an adverse reaction, however we will do a skin patch test to see if you have a reaction. It is also safest to wait on face paint for children until they are 3 years old.
We recommend first using face soap on the painted area. Rub in the soap gently until it picks up the color of the paint. Then rinse the area thoroughly with warm water. This should help with the removal of all paint. If staining occurs, gently rub oil on the affected area. Then wash the area once again.
Avoid using make up wipes or baby wipes as they force the paint deeper into the pores and may cause irritation from rubbing.
Glitter Tattoo Safety, Care, and Removal Information
Glitter Tattoos are an amazing alternative to facepaint. They are temporary and held on by medical grade glue. They generally can last 3-7 days depending on location and wear. They are water resistant, although not water proof. Glitter tattoos are best for ages 5 and up. To encourage longer wear, do not scrub or rub that tattoo. Have it applied to an area that clothing won’t rub on it.
Our tattoos have a layer of medical glue and then fine cosmetic glitter. To remove the glitter tattoo without rubbing, you want to use rubbing alcohol. The alcohol will dissolve the glue safely. You can then wash the area with soap and water. Please do not get a glitter tattoo if you are allergic to latex or have sensitive skin without getting a spot test first.
Henna Safety and After Care
Our henna is 100% natural and made fresh. This means that you will not have a chemical reaction or burn like you can from “shelf-stable” henna. The stain is generally brown and will last from 5-14 days depending on your skin and the care. It is mixed with sugar, lemon juice, essential oils, and henna. The henna will be applied as a paste to prepared skin (cleaned with alcohol). You will get a deeper stain by keeping the paste on longer. You don’t want it to dry out. Misting it with water can help. After the henna dries, it will begin to flake off. You can apply oil to the area to keep the skin from exfoliating in order to prolong your design. Do not apply water to the henna stain until 24-48 hours after the paste flakes off. *Sunlight is your friend! The more natural sunlight you expose the stain to in between application and removal of paste, the darker your stain will get.
